Arthur currently lives in Perth, Western Australia, and is an Internationally acclaimed Guitarist, Keyboardist and composer of award winning documentaries and feature films such as Beyond The Himalayas (music from Central Asia) Patang, Gudia, Dekha and Yatra with film maker Gautam Ghosh and “Night in the twelfth year”(an Indo Italian production by Sergio Scappagini).
Arthur migrated to Australia from Culcutta, India, coming from a musical family and is well versed in Indian classical, Western classical and Jazz music. He studied music at the Royal School of Music in London and then went on to study with German Musicologist, Dr Hans Jurgen Nagel and also studied Indian Classical music under Ustad Nanku Maharaj.
Arthur is one of the leading pioneers of indo-jazz fusion, broadcasting regularly on radio and television from the early 1970’s.
Since moving to Perth, Arthur has performed a number of concerts including Kulcha the Fly by Night Musician’s Club and Jazz Fremantle. In 2002, Arthur composed and arranged World music for UN Harmony Day in Perth on 21 March 2002 for Multicultural Interests. Arthur regularly travels back to India where he performs at the Rennaissance Cultural Centre, Weavers Studio and recently at the Satyajit Ray Auditorium with Masters of Indian Classical music .
In addition to Indian classical music, Arthur’s jazz performances have included performances with Sonny Lobo, Braz Gonsalvez (tenor sax), Louis Banks and Steve Potts and well as Inhouse Jazz sessions with Herbie Hancock and Steve Lacy.
